Renting a room in London normally goes like this: dozens of listings with hidden costs, a five-week deposit, a twelve-month contract, and a scramble to set up WiFi and split the bills. We built Nook to skip all of that.
Every Nook room is furnished and sits in a shared flat in Canary Wharf, Central London, Islington or Whitechapel. One weekly price — from £215/week, subject to room availability — covers WiFi, electricity, water and council tax. You pay two weeks' deposit, sign online, and settle in.
What your weekly price includes
- Furnished room in a shared flat (bed, wardrobe, desk — ready to live in)
- WiFi from day one
- Electricity and water
- Council tax
- Shared kitchen and living space with your flatmates
- No agency fees, no setup fees, no surprise charges
If it's not in your contract, you won't be billed for it. That's the whole point.

The two weeks' deposit difference
UK law lets landlords take up to five weeks' rent as a deposit. On a £300/week room that's £1,500 locked away before you've bought a single mug. Nook takes two weeks — protected in a government-approved scheme, returned per your contract when you move out. Concrete, not marketing: it's written into every tenancy.
Who rents with Nook?
Young professionals starting London jobs, postgraduate students, interns on placements — mostly 20 to 35, mostly new to the city, all sharing flats small enough that you actually learn your flatmates' names. If that sounds like your kind of home, you'll fit right in.
How it works
- Browse rooms — photos, prices, availability, all public. Browse rooms
- Book a viewing — in person or by video call.
- Sign and settle in — two weeks' deposit, online contract, keys on move-in day.
Frequently asked questions
Q: How much does it cost to rent a room in London? A: Across London, advertised room prices often exclude bills. Nook rooms start from £215/week, subject to room availability, with WiFi, electricity, water and council tax included — so the price you see is the price you pay.
Q: Are the rooms furnished? A: Yes — every room comes with a bed, wardrobe and desk, and the shared kitchen and living areas are fully equipped.
Q: What deposit will I pay? A: Two weeks' rent, protected in a government-approved deposit scheme. The legal maximum in the UK is five weeks — we simply don't ask for that.
Q: How long are the contracts? A: Flexible — from three months upwards. Stay a term, a year, or as long as London keeps you.
Q: Can couples rent a room? A: Some rooms suit couples — check the room listing or ask us and we'll confirm which rooms allow double occupancy and the price difference.
